TBR Triple Dog Dare

This is the fourth, and probably final, year of the TBR Dare.  Dakota and I started this little non-challenge four years ago and it's become something of a tradition for many of our longtime readers here at Ready When You Are, C.B.  I wasn't sure about doing it again this year, now that I've gone into semi-retirement, but when I mentioned it last week, several people commented that they were looking forward to doing it again this year so.....

We were on schedule to have a triple dare this year since last year was the double dog dare, but I'm skipping ahead to the final ultimate level of school yard dare....the triple dog dare.  There is no higher level of dare.

It's now or never.

Are you brave enough to take the dare?

The rules* are simple: read only books in your TBR pile or on your library reserve list as of January 1, 2014 for the entire months of January, February and March.  The TBR Triple Dog Dare will end on April 1, 2014.

You and I both know that you have a big stack of unread books in your house, books you've been meaning to read for years, maybe a few of them for decades.  This is your chance to finally read the books you always wanted to read.

Sign-up below or by leaving your information in a comment.  (Please list your name or your blog's name in the link title box.)

*You are allowed to make any scheduled exceptions you need to for book clubs, or books you have on order, books scheduled to be published during the first part of 2014, books you have to read for school or ARC's that come across your threshold, etc.  The TBR Triple Dog Dare is meant to be fun.  So make whatever exceptions you need to make in order to have fun.

I NEED this CB --- and I think I am finally at a place in life where I am ready to commit to reading on a regular basis. My overladen bookshelves are ready too :)

Thank you so much for offering this challenge on more time!

I am definitely in it again this year! My only exceptions will be books I need to read for school.

I can't wait!

I am glad you're running the Dare one last time. I'm going to try to make it all the way with the only exceptions being books I read with my kids.

James,
I definitely want to join this, but I have one question, which, if I ask it, may disqualify me.

I hope you will be candid. Feel free to reject me if I don't meet the mark!

May I occasionally blog about a novel published in 2014?

I have loads of time to read starting in January, as I'm taking the semester off.

James,
I am an idiot. There's no need for you to respond to my previous post. I see, from reading your TDR description more carefully that I can do what I asked if I can do.
I also got a chuckle after reading my question/comment to you, thinking, doesn't this sound like a student exactly? You know the whine. Can I do the assignment this way, or that way; i.e. other than the teacher has already specified. Ouch. I noticed that.

OK, I'm in, as long as I can include books I need to read for my library's book group (since I'm in charge). This year I've tried really hard to read 50% from my own shelves and I'm pretty close to making it. Three whole months next year might be 25 or 30 books off the TBR shelves!

Just thinking about the minimizing inherent to this project, the accomplishing of a few goals, is making me breathe easier tonight.

I am officially in - and looking forward to it, though with a bit of dread. I know I'll hit that wall in February, where I just want to go out and find a new book. Or three.

I have yet to make the full challenge but I'm ready for it this year!

Signed up and posted on Twitter and added it to the Sword & Laser group on Goodreads. Many folks there are into reading challenges and often mention their tottering TBR piles, so this should help!

I just learned about this challenge. I need something to get me reading again and I think this is it. Excited to participate.

Looks like I've gotten a few members of the Sword & Laser book club to sign up. I especially like the photo of one guy's reading pile: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1602891-sign-up-for-the-2014-tbr-triple-dog-reading-dare

Very cool. Just read about this on goodreads. Count me in, as I have to get to get the extra tbrs off the floor that dont fit in the bookcase.

Count me in! I have soooooo books on my TBR list. My shelves are overflowing, too! (A problem I wish to resolve shortly with the purchase of some new-to-me shelving).
So, in addition to class readings, I will start to whittle away at my bedside pile!

I'm in! 2014 is the year of the tbr pile for me. I need to make a dent in all of the unread books I own! Thanks for hosting this again and reminding me about it. :-)

I'm signing up for January and February allowing one exception in each month - the Simenon releases from Penguin which I'm determined to keep up with. There's no point me trying in March - there's a literary festival in April and I will have to read new and as yet unknown releases for that. Still two months is better than none!

I am definitely in. I'll leave a link just as soon as I get my official post on the blog up.

Thanks for hosting this challenge. Every year I intend to accept this challenge but chicken out at the last minute. Now that its probably my last chanch, I have to go for it. I'm ready!

I am doing this. I am back to doing challenges after two years of hiatus. My reading went down the drain in those two years. I am gonna do a few challenges to break that mold.

Thanks for visiting my blog. That reminded me what I was missing!
